Building with Zilliqa: NFTs Beyond Art

NFTs can be used for more than just tokenising artworks.

The idea of the metaverse, NFT vaults, and even representing ownership for liquidity farming has caught on. Entire collectives have formed around DAOs to purchase NFTs to manage these assets. For this hackathon, we’d like to build on the overall ecosystem forming around the concept of tokenization through NFTs.

We are looking to the Gitcoin community to help build projects centred around these few focuses:

• Have a game you’d like to introduce to the metaverse? Build a system that allows you to convert in-game assets into NFTs.
• As part of the metaverse, another way to create unique content is through generative art! You could develop a set of assets used to create the final art piece or any other form of generative art collectibles. There are interesting use cases such as using generative art for charity, thereby producing unique memorabilia or even avatars.
• Allow any user to lock up any of the NFTs they own as collateral, a key feature in asset tokenisation use cases.
• Create a decentralised index fund that purchases and tracks NFTs while minting shares for those that participate in the fund.
• Go crazy with NFTs - Inspire us with your creativity!

Prize structure [for each project]

• The person or team to create the best project in each category will win $5K
• The 2nd place team will win $3.5K
• The 3rd place team will win $1.5K

All projects should be built on Zilliqa. Selected projects will also gain the chance to join the ZILHive Grants programme.

Why Zilliqa

Zilliqa is the world's first sharded smart contract platform that is designed to scale while remaining fully decentralized. It has a total of 4 shards, each possessing 600 community validators, and the network can process up to thousands of transactions per second. Zilliqa also runs on a functional smart contract programming language, Scilla, that aims to eliminate bugs before run time and hence making the development process much faster and secure.

Zilliqa is committed to growing its developer/talent ecosystem through its ZILHive Education/Grants/Accelerator programmes, and we want you to take the first step in the ZILHive community by participating in this hackathon.

What to expect

Our two week hackathon will commence on 8th of October 2021. Check out our existing learning resource LearnScilla to get a sense of how to build on Zilliqa, and what sort of learning resources we are looking out for. Do also check out dev.zilliqa.com to get a feel of how the development process on Zilliqa will look like before the hackathon kicks off.

Before the hackathon:

• If you're solo and looking to join a team, we help you identify and connect with other hackers.
• Come up with ideas! There will be plenty of bounties to work on but we'd love for you to get creative and come up with an exciting new project!

During the hackathon (14 days):

• You work on your hack!
• Access to Zilliqa and ZILHive team members on Discord.
• We will have regular office hours so that you can ask all your questions and feel supported throughout. Stay tuned for our programme schedule!

After the hackathon:

• We begin the judging process.
• You finalize and submit your hack and make your bounty submissions.
• Win awesome bounties, prizes and a chance to join the ZILHive Grants programme.

Judging Criteria

All submissions will be judged by a panel of Zilliqa’s core developers and ZILHive employees. 

Submissions will be graded on:

1. Quality of content 
2. Level of curated content (Intermediate preferred)
3. Usability and User Experience 

Bonus points for:

1. Video tutorials 
2. Tutorials translated into multiple languages
